Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Whiteboard Android app does with your information. It is written to describe what the app actually does, not the widest set of things a policy could permit.

At a glance
- Your boards stay on your device. Drawings, text, images, PDFs, voice notes and screen recordings are stored locally. We do not upload them, and we cannot see them.
- We have no accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We do not know who you are.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising purposes beyond the Google advertising services described below.
- We collect anonymous usage and crash data through Google Firebase, limited to how the app’s paid features are used — never the content you create.
- Free users see ads served by Google AdMob. Ads are not shown on the drawing canvas.
- Handwriting recognition and text extraction run on your device. Your handwriting and images are not uploaded for processing.
1Information stored on your device
Everything you create in Whiteboard is written to your device’s private app storage. This includes:
- Board titles, tags, folders and favourites
- Page content: ink strokes, shapes, text boxes, sticky notes and connectors
- Images you insert and PDFs you import
- Voice notes you record, and screen recordings you make
- Your preferences: theme, accent colour, brush settings, recent colours, sort order, stylus-only mode, and whether you have completed onboarding
This data is not transmitted to us. It is readable only by the app itself and, where you choose, by apps you explicitly share a file with.
Deleting the app deletes this data. Because we hold no copy, we cannot restore it for you.
2Android backup — your content may be copied to your own Google account
Whiteboard participates in Android’s Auto Backup and device-transfer system. If backup is enabled in your Android settings, your board database, board files (including inserted images, voice notes and recordings) and app preferences may be copied to your own Google account’s backup storage, and restored when you set up a new device.
This backup is performed by Android and Google, not by us. It is stored under your Google account, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, and we have no access to it. You can disable it in your device’s Settings → Google → Backup.
3Information collected automatically
Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
We log a small, fixed set of events about how the app’s paid features are used, so we can understand which features are worth building and where the purchase flow breaks:

Firebase also automatically collects standard technical information such as app open and session events, device model, operating system version, app version, coarse region, and a randomly generated app instance identifier.
No board content of any kind is included in analytics — no titles, no drawings, no text, no file names.
Crash reporting (Google Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes, we receive a report containing the crash stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version, and a short breadcrumb trail listing the names of the analytics events above that occurred beforehand. This helps us reproduce and fix the crash.
No board content is included in crash reports.
Analytics and crash collection are disabled automatically in development builds, so our dashboards reflect real usage rather than our own testing.
4Advertising (Google AdMob)
Free users are shown two kinds of ad: an optional rewarded ad to temporarily unlock a feature, and an interstitial shown occasionally after an export. There are no ads on the drawing canvas.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect and process your device’s advertising ID, device and network information, approximate location inferred from your IP address, and your interactions with ads, in order to serve and measure advertising. This processing is carried out by Google as described in Google’s Privacy & Terms.
Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we present Google’s certified consent form (the User Messaging Platform) before personalised ads are requested. You can revisit and change that decision at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app.
Purchasing Whiteboard Pro removes all ads.
5Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive, see or store your payment card, bank details, billing address, or Google account identity. We receive only the purchase state needed to unlock paid features on your device.
Payment handling is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy.
6Handwriting recognition and text extraction
- Handwriting → text uses Google ML Kit Digital Ink. The first time you use it, a recognition model is downloaded from Google to your device. Recognition then runs entirely on your device. Your handwriting is not uploaded.
- Extracting text from an image (OCR) uses a recognition model bundled inside the app. It runs entirely on your device and works with no network connection at all. Your images are not uploaded.
7Permissions the app requests, and why

Whiteboard does not request access to your contacts, precise location, camera, call logs, SMS, or files outside what you explicitly pick.
8Sharing and export
When you export or share a board, the resulting file is written to the app’s temporary storage and handed to the app you choose through Android’s share sheet. What happens to it afterwards is governed by that app’s own policies. We are not involved in and cannot see that transfer.
9Children
Whiteboard is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at snewdeveloper@gmail.com and we will address it.
10Your rights
Because we operate no accounts and hold no personal profile about you, most of your data is under your direct control: it lives on your device, and uninstalling the app erases it.
For the limited analytics, crash and advertising data described above, depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent:
- India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): rights of access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal.
- EEA / UK (GDPR): rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability; and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
You can exercise the following directly, without contacting us:
- Opt out of personalised ads: Settings → Ad privacy options (in the app), or your device’s Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can also reset or delete your advertising ID.
- Stop all data collection by this app: uninstall it.
For anything else, write to snewdeveloper@gmail.com and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
11Data retention
- Board content: kept on your device until you delete it. Boards you move to Trash are permanently removed after 30 days.
- Analytics and crash data: retained by Google Firebase according to our project’s configured retention period (Firebase’s default for analytics event data is 2 months, and up to 14 months where configured).
- Advertising data: retained by Google as described in its own policies.
12Security
Board data is stored in your device’s private app storage, which Android isolates from other apps. Network traffic to Google’s services uses encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — in particular, a rooted or compromised device may expose app storage to other software.

14Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is significant, surfaced in the app. Continuing to use Whiteboard after a change means you accept the updated policy.
